Gloom and Doom

There are so many things that everybody knows but nobody seems to to do anything about. Everybody knows that politicians are corrupt, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that government is failing, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that prices are increasing, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that food portions are getting smaller, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that products are being made more cheaply, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that teachers are underpaid, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that celebrities are overpaid, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that kids are starving around the world, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that mass media is biased, but nobody does anything. Everybody knows that everybody knows, but still, nobody does anything.
So don’t do anything then. Just sit there, nod your head, maybe reflect for a moment, and then move on to the next task on your to-do list. You know that you aren’t going to do anything to change the way things are. You know that you are hedging your bets to see how bad things will get before you have to give up your selfish lifestyle. Your selfish will. You know that things are getting worse, but you still just sit there and do nothing. Ignore the things you hear and forget the things you know. After all, things aren’t so bad when you don’t think about them.
Eventually, and perhaps soon, things will change. Things will reach the boiling point. Things will be pushed as far as they can be pushed. People will take as much as they can take. When that happens, things will change. Not because of you. Because you won’t ever change. You will panic. You will seek shelter, food, and clothing. You will seek to preserve your things, your treasures, your wealth. You will cry for safety, and a return to the way things were. Then, you will wish you had done something. Then, you will wish you had heeded the call. As it all comes tumbling down, everybody will know that it’s everybody’s fault because nobody did anything.
Right now, this is the worst part, at least from my perspective. This is the time when everybody knows and nobody does anything. When fear increases and people refuse to change. This is the build-up, the slow crawl that seems to last forever. Slowly, ever slowly, things continue to change. To get worse. Building up, building fear, and breeding apathy. These are the beginning of labor pains, the beginning of the beginning. Don’t listen to those who tell you things are so bad that this must be the end, because you have no idea how bad it will get. This is nothing. This is the end of the golden age. The end of the industrial age, the end of civilization.
But it’s not over yet. When it finally does begin, when this slow, apathetic crawl into the dark is complete, it will be time for the unknown to step forth. It will be a time of relentless chaos, devastating change, and the culmination of all things. I fear this time and long for it. I loathe the things to come and yet look forward to them. Until that time, I will wait, as patiently as I must. I will enjoy this life and the things in it and will continue to wait and watch for the appointed time. Then I will have much more to say, much more to share with you, and much more to do. I want to tell you now, but I can’t, because it’s not yet time. These are the days of the long, slow crawl into the dark.

I hear your voice in the dark.
Anarchy never died, it just stuck its hands in its pockets and looked unassuming while we all rushed by.
We can be very patient. Reincarnation is awesome.
